Hot springs are an unknown secret in New Mexico. The state is famously known as the land of enchantment. Because there are many things that will take your breath away. I already highlighted some New Mexico attractions like the Carlsbad Caverns, the Taos Pueblo and Sky City. But visitors are unaware that New Mexico has several hot mineral springs in different part of the state. New Mexico is a hot spot for hot mineral springs of all sorts. This is due to geothermal activity in the region. The mineral springs could be a big tourist attraction for the state.

Several business establishments have tapped the hot mineral springs for commercial use. They channel the mineral water into hot pools. The Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs and Resort and the River Bend Hot Springs are two such facilities. They are famous relaxation spots worth mentioning. I have spent time at both establishments and do not have a preference. In fact, both are incredibly attractive.

The Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs and Resort is in the Northern part of New Mexico. The driving distance from Albuquerque is approximately 91 miles or one hour from the city of Santa Fe. The resort provides accommodations. Therefore, you can overnight and relax in the spa at your leisure. There are numerous hot pools. They vary in temperature.

Another hot mineral water spa is the River Bend Hot Springs Resort in Truth and Consequence. The drive time is about two and a half hours on I-25 South. Providing you are coming from Albuquerque. It is a beautiful and peaceful drive.

Truth and Consequence is a small town in NM. The town has a unique name. It was formerly known as Hot Springs. Due to several mineral springs in the vicinity. A TV host in the 1950’s named Ralph Edwards had a show called Truth and Consequence. He wanted a town to be named after the show. The town called Hot Springs was selected from several applications. The town has a year-round population of 6000. The hot springs should be a big attraction to tourists.

The River Bend Hot Springs is on the banks of the Rio Grande River. It provides a spectacular view of the Rio Grande river and surrounding mountains. It is a beautiful hideaway that provides a relaxation atmosphere. According to the brochure – β€œIt is a quiet escape to heal, rejuvenate and recharge your mind, soul and body.” There are several hot mineral water baths. Some are common pools for the public. Whereas seven pools are private.
