Costa-Rica-Traffic

My Costa Rica tropical adventure began on March 16, 2019. I spent a night in San Jose, then travelled to Monte Verde. I was part of a 24 persons Globus escorted group tour. The group comprised of travelers from the US and Canada. Our 7-day Globus tour was called “Costa Rica Escape.” The four-hour flight from Atlanta to San Jose was uneventful. Thereafter, I checked into our hotel in San Jose. The Park Hotel was very comfortable and in a good location. One block from the hotel was a supermarket. In addition, there were several restaurants nearby. I spent the afternoon exploring the area close to the hotel.

Location of Costa Rica

Costa Rica is in Central America. It lies north of Nicaragua and south of Panama. The Caribbean Sea is on the East coast. Whereas the West coast is the Pacific Ocean. It is well known for its rain forest, conservation policies and tropical adventure. Above all, the country is famous beaches and volcanoes. As a matter of fact, it is known as the “Wonders of Nature” because of her forest.

tropical adventure

I had a fantastic tropical adventure. In fact, it was an amazing time with the group of 24 persons.  The Globus representative served as our tour guide. He made the trip exciting and memorable. The experiences will last a lifetime. Being in a group can be a challenge. Our group was very punctual for all activities. In addition, everyone was extremely friendly.

Costa Rica Tropical Adventure

My Costa Rica tropical adventure started and ended in the capital city, San Jose. It is a typical city. The traffic is miserable during the peak hours. It was noteworthy that very few tall buildings were visible in the city. In fact, skyscrapers are not common with a few dotting the skyline. Costa Rica is a volcanic country. As a result, earthquakes are a regular occurrence. Therefore, the building codes limit structures to two floors.  I had no difficulty getting around to view some city attractions. Taxis are in abundance although it can be a challenge. The Cab drivers speak little English. I was fortunate to know a few Spanish words. It was helpful although it was not totally necessary.

Museums

This was a lay back day during my Costa Rica tropical adventure. As a matter of fact, this was a quiet moment during the trip. I took time to explore the city activities of San Jose. Firstly, I visited the National Gold Museum. The National Gold Museum is one of the city’s big attraction. It is located underneath the Plaza de la Cultura. The gold on display is considered pre-Columbian. I was amazed at the intricate images and designs. The gold collection consisted of figures and coins and historic artifacts. On the other hand, the collection has over 1600 artifacts. It is pre-Columbian gold dating back to 500 AD. The history of Costa Rica currency was on display. The currency is called colon. The display showed the colon history. In addition, it covered the changes of the currency up to the present day.

Also, a Costa Rica native named Jiminez Deredia had a presentation at the museum. His display main element was pre-Columbian spheres. It emphasized the cultural identity of the pre-Columbian spheres. They were beautiful sight to behold.

We moved to Monteverde, then Arenal before returning to San Jose.  I invite you to come back for more Information about my Costa Rica tropical adventure in the coming weeks. Vacation packages are available from Tropical Destination Vacations.
